Mass Mobile-Media
John Battelle of Federated Media predicted that mobility would become a presumptive aspect of everything on the web by the end of 2009. Mobile phones and netbooks are just the beginning. Companies are building photography, video and audio recording into more than just phones and laptops. Appleās iPod nano added video recording for the first time in September 2009.
Although the use of mobile phones has reached unprecedented levels worldwide, full integration with the web has barely started. Usability is still the biggest barrier for most people. BBC News reported in January 2009 that 61% of users interviewed in the UK and US said setting up a new handset is as challenging as moving bank accounts and 95% said they would try more new services if mobile technology were easier. This signals the potential explosion of mobile usage as devices become easier, faster, smaller, cheaper and more integrated with the web.
